Computer Applications students put their formatting skills to work by creating a one page newsletter about three careers that they are interested in after high school and college.
The assignment was divided into five sections:
- Draw a collage with pictures, symbols, words, and color that represents themselves and continue to add to it over the course of the unit
- Career Interest search LINK
- Review national statistics about careers

- Career Investigations
- information found on LINK
- Had to find info about three different careers covering:
- Nature of Work - five major tasks that workers perform
- Working Conditions - normal hours, typical working conditions, unpleasant or dangerous aspects
- Employment - Number of jobs in occupation, industries or locations do people work
- Training and Qualifications - preferred level of education
- Job Outlook - speed of growth, good/bad opportunities
- Earnings - average starting salary, average yearly earnings
- Related Occupations
- Create a summary newsletter of noted information
- use column text, borders and shading, title and heading formats, consistent body text styles
- include clip art that matches text, change text wrapping so text and picture flow together
