Computer Applications students put their formatting skills to work by creating a one page newsletter about three careers that they are interested in after high school and college.

The assignment was divided into five sections:

  1. Draw a collage with pictures, symbols, words, and color that represents themselves and continue to add to it over the course of the unit
  2. Career Interest search LINK
  3. Review national statistics about careers

  4. Career Investigations
    1. information found on LINK
    2. Had to find info about three different careers covering:
      1. Nature of Work - five major tasks that workers perform
      2. Working Conditions - normal hours, typical working conditions, unpleasant or dangerous aspects
      3. Employment - Number of jobs in occupation, industries or locations do people work
      4. Training and Qualifications - preferred level of education
      5. Job Outlook - speed of growth, good/bad opportunities
      6. Earnings - average starting salary, average yearly earnings
      7. Related Occupations
  5. Create a summary newsletter of noted information
    1. use column text, borders and shading, title and heading formats, consistent body text styles
    2. include clip art that matches text, change text wrapping so text and picture flow together
