Elijah Pollard represented the Ord cross country team at the state meet last Friday in Kearney.  Pollard finished 59th in the field of 119 runners.  “Elijah ran a very good race at the state meet”, Coach Derry Trampe commented.  “He got out like we asked him to and then got stronger as the race went on.  It was a pretty hot day for late October, so I was pleased with how disciplined he was at the start of the race.  He passed a lot of runners in the final mile of the race and was able to finish the race strong.  This should be great experience for him heading into next season.”  Pollard covered the 5,000-meter course in 18:36 to earn his place in the race.  With just one runner in the race, the Chants did not field enough runners to score as a team.

Gothenburg won a second consecutive title with 38 points while Lincoln Christian was second with 45 points and Mount Michael Benedictine was third with 57 points.  Rounding out the top ten teams were Fort Calhoun (112), Syracuse (114), Milford (129), Arlington (132), Alliance (137), Holdrege (153), and Wayne (165).
