Ord - The Ord Chanticleers were at home again this week in quarterfinal action to take on the Mitchell Tigers. The Chanticleers got started fast in this game outsourcing Mitchell 26-0 in the first half. In the first quarter Dylan Hurlburt scored on a 7 yard run and on the last play of the first quarter Dylan Hurlburt found Trent McCain up the sideline for an 87 yard touchdown pass and catch. In the second quarter, Trent McCain scored on a 27 yard run and Dylan Hurlburt found a wide open Blake Hinrichs for a 22 yard reception. On the last play of the half, a Mitchell drive was stopped by when Aidan Ryschon intercepted a pass at the goalline. The Chants got the ball to start the second half and put together a drive that ended in a fumble. The Mitchell Tigers took advantage and drove the field to score making it 26-7. In Chant fashion, they responded with two more scores in the third quarter on runs from Trent McCain from 16 and 2 yards respectively. The Tigers added one more score on a fluke play where Mitchell fumbled the ball on a reverse play and the quarterback picked it up and threw it downfield for a 77 yard touchdown pass. The score at the end of third was 40-14. Each team scored one more time in the fourth quarter. Aidan Ryschon scored on an 8 yard run and Mitchell added one more score. The Chants punched their ticket to the semifinals for the fourth time in four years and fifth time in 6 years. The Chants Coach Wells commented after the game, “We really put it all together this game. That was some physical football. So proud of our guys and coaches for staying with the process and continuing to want to get better everyday and every week. Our offensive line played so well and we were able to do whatever we wanted. Defensively, we didn’t give them anything early and we were able to race out to a big lead.” The Chanticleers will be at home again this week to play the Yutan Chieftans in the C-2 State Semifinals.
