The Ord Boys basketball team opened the week by traveling to Atkinson to take on the West Holt Huskies. On Friday night the Chants took on the Kearney Catholic Stars. The Chants would take the 1st quarter 11-7. The Stars would take the 2nd quarter but the Chants would go into the locker room with a 20-17 point lead. The teams would tie in the 3rd quarter. “We had an opportunity in the 3rd quarter to pull away and that didn’t happen for us tonight.” Coach Gates would say about the 3rd quarter after the game. In the 4th the Stars would hit 3 three-pointers with the last one coming with a minute left to take a six-point lead. The Chants would be unable to respond and the Chants would fall 49-40. The Chants were led by Elijah Pollard with 11 points. Blake Hinrichs had nine points and seven rebounds. Talan Bruha added seven points for the Chants. The Chants will host Centura on Saturday.
