On Tuesday night the Chants hosted conference opponent  Wood River. In the 1st quarter, the Chants were able to jump on the Eagles and take a 13-5 lead. “We talked about it before the game that we need a good start tonight vs a team like this and our guys did that.” Coach Gates said after the game. In the 2nd quarter, the Chants and Eagles would play almost even basketball with the Eagles winning the quarter by one. The 2nd half would be a game of runs for both teams with each team going on multiple runs. The Eagles started the exchange and cut the Chant lead to 3 before the Chants extended the lead to before the 4th. The Chants would open the 4th quarter with a run that took the lead to 48-39. The Eagles would respond and begin to chip at the Chants' lead. The Chants would hold on in an exciting final minute that gave the Chants a 67-64 victory. “We found a way at the end but we played an all-around good game tonight,” Coach Gates said. The Chants were led by Jordan Williams with 19  points, Talan Bruha with 16, and Blake Hinrichs with 14 points. Hinrichs, Bruha, and Elijah Pollard each totaled six rebounds in the victory. 

On Thursday the Chants traveled to top 10 Doniphan Trumbull. The game did not start well for the Chants with the Cardinals running out to a 17-6 lead. “We had some chances to convert early in the game and that didn’t happen and they took advantage of it. That’s what good teams will do to you.” Coach Gates said after. The Cardinals would continue to extend their lead with a 35-12 break at the half. The Cardinals would take the victory 63-32. The Chants were led by Blake Hinrichs with ten points and Colton Thompson would add nine points for the Chants The Chants will start the Conference Tournament on Tuesday as the 4 seed and host Ravenna.
