The Ord High School track teams got their seasons started this past Saturday at the annual UNK indoor track and field meet in Kearney.  No team scores were kept for the meet and medals were awarded to the top six finishers in each event.  “We got off to a very good start”, Coach Derry Trampe stated.  “We had several athletes bring home medals from the meet and brought home a few first-place medals. Even though they did not keep team scores, I went through the results and figured out team scores for both meets.  If team scores had been kept both our boys and girls would have one the meet.” The girls brough home medals from 12 of the 15 contested events and the boys brought home at least one medal from every event in the meet.  “We had a good meet, but we also have room to improve, and that is what we will do as the season progresses.”

The girls brought home three gold medals from the meet with two individual event champions, a relay championship, and set four personal best marks.  Natalie Williams won the long jump with a leap of 15’ 2” and Marin Reilly won the shot put with a toss of 33’ 8.5” to bring home the individual gold medals.  Williams teamed up with Maggie Fischer, Claire Cargill and Kaci Bruha to win the 4 X 400 relay in a time of 4:28.73.  Second place medals went to Maggie Fischer in the 400 (64.65), Jocely Hinrichs in the triple jump (33’ 1.5”), Addison Blaha in the pole vault (8’ 0” PB), and the 4 X 800 relay team of Piper Whited, Avery Bruha, Elle Jess, and Izzy Jeffres (11:51.57).
