The Ord High School 9/10 track teams hosted their annual invitational on Monday, April 15.  Both the boys and girls won the team title in their division of the meet.  The Chanticleer girls scored 96 points to win the team title by 24 points over St. Paul (72).  The boys scored 91 points on the day to finish 30 points ahead of team runner-up Centura (61). “I was pleasantly surprised with both of our teams winning the meet” Coach Derry Trampe commented.  “We have a good group of kids on our team, and I was happy with the way they performed in this meet.  They have a lot of talent and are getting better every week.”  Rounding out the team scores in the girls’ team race were Broken Bow (67), Boone Central (64), Cross County (50), Centura (46), Central City (41), Ravenna (32), Grand Island CC (18), Elba (18), Aurora (10), and Wood River (6).  Rounding out the scores in the boys’ team race were Grand Island CC (58), Broken Bow (44), Aurora (43), Cross County (43), St. Paul (43), Central City (40), Boone Central (33), Elba (17), Wood River (16), Ravenna (4).


Winning gold medals for the girls were the 4 X 800 relay team and Trinity Chatfield.  Chatfield won the high jump with a meet record jump of 4’ 11”.  The 4 X 800 relay team of Avery Bruha, Allison Wheeler, Azia Giron, and Elle Jess won the event in a time of 12:19.50.  Second place medals were won by Elle Jess in the 400 (67.41PB), Lillie Shoemaker in the shot put (35’ 9” PB) and discus (95’ 7” PB), Klair DeRiso in the long jump (15’ 4” PB), Addi Blaha in the pole vault (8’ 6”), and the 4 X 400 relay team of Elle Jess, Allison Wheeler, Azia Giron, and Klair DeRiso (4:33.90). Payton Bruha and Aiza Giron won third place medals in the meet.  Bruha finished third in both the 100 HH (18.37 PB), and 300 LH (57.04) while Giron picked up a third-place medal in the triple jump (31’ 1” PB). Klair DeRiso added a 4th place finish in the 200 in a time of 29.26. Allison Wheeler finished fifth in the discus (86’ 5”) and Molly Klimek was fifth in the high jump (4’ 5”). Payton Whited added a sixth-place finish in the 300 LH in a personal best time of 61.86.  The 4 X 100 relay team of Payton Bruha, Lillie Shoemaker, Tiara Thomsen, and Klair DeRiso placed sixth in a time of 57.77.


Winning gold medals for the boys were Gavin Whited in the 3200 (12:33.73), Colton Thompson in the high jump (5’ 6”), and Gunner Rice in the pole vault (10’ 0”).  Colt Meyer earned a second-place medal in the discus with a personal best throw of 108’ 7”.  Colton Thompson finished second in the long jump with a jump of 18’ 3.75”. Also finishing in second was the 4 X 400 relay team of Levi Klein, Easton Ryschon, Gunner Rice, and Jaden Psota in a time of 3:56.03. Picking up third place awards were Easton Ryschon in the 400 (59.38), Levi Klein in the 300 IH (47.93), Colton Thompson in the triple jump (38’ 4”), and the 4 X 100 relay team of Colton Thompson, Grey Geiser, Haydin Nelson, and Levi Klein (50.31). Gavin Whited and Colt Meyer added fourth place points in the 1600 and shot put respectively.  Whited ran the 1600 in a time of 5:35.11 and Meyer threw the shot a personal best distance of 37’ 5”.  Levi Klein was fifth in the 110 HH in a personal best time of 19.82 and Jaden Psota was fifth in the 300 IH in a time of 49.50. Matyas Klima added a sixth place finish in the discus with a personal best toss of 100’ 5”.
