Seventeen members of the Ord High Track and Field teams competed in the annual Central Nebraska Track Championships on Monday, April 20.  Eleven girls and six boys qualified for the meet that was held at Northwest High School in Grand Island.  Athletes from Ord competed in 17 different events and brought home medals from two of the events.  “I was very pleased with the way our kids competed in this meet”, Coach Derry Trampe commented.  “We had three personal best marks on the season and all our relays recorded their best times of the season.  It looks like we are peaking at the right time of the season.  It will be exciting to see how we finish the season.”

The boys 4 X 800 relay team of Garret Severance, Gunner Rice, Jace Geiser, and Elijah Pollard recorded the highest finish of the night as they placed second in the event in a season best time of 8:28.30.  “All of the guys on this relay ran their best split of the season and dropped 20 seconds off their best time of the year”, Trampe said.  “If we continue to run this competitively the rest of the season, good things could happen for this group.”  Marin Reilly picked up a medal on the girls’ side of the meet as she threw a personal best toss of 125’ 3” to finish third in the discus. “It is great to have Marin back and competing again”, Coach Trampe noted.  “She got hurt early in the season and missed about three weeks but has really come back strong.  I was happy to see her win a medal.”
