Pollard and Williams Win Gold, Williams sets Meet Record
Nineteen members of the Ord High Track and Field teams competed in the annual Central Nebraska Track Championships on Monday, April 28. Eleven girls and eight boys qualified for the meet that was held at Northwest High School in Grand Island. Athletes from Ord competed in 15 different events and brought home medals from 6 of those events. “This was one of the most successful days we have had at this meet that I can remember”, Coach Derry Trampe commented. “We had four personal best marks on the day, set three school records and two of our relays had season best marks. We are reaching the top of our form at the right time of the year. I am very excited to see how this season finishes out.”
Elijah Pollard and Natalie Williams both won gold medals in the meet. Pollard won the 400 in a personal best time of 49.83 and Williams won the 200 in a personal best and school record time of 24.89. Her mark was also a meet record for the CNTC. The boys 4X800 relay team of Jordan Williams, Gunner Rice, Garret Severance, and Elijah Pollard finished second in a season best time of 8:16.00. Beau Wells also brought home a second-place medal in the pole vault with a leap of 13’ 3”. Natalie Williams finished third in the 100 in a very close race and set a new school record with a time of 12.29. Jed Boettcher also brough home a third-place medal in the discus with a toss of 155’ 8”.
In addition to the medal winners, the Chants had several quality performances in the meet. The girls 4X100 relay team finished fourth in the event in a school record time of 50.58. Team members include Natalie Williams, Avarie Fox, Klair DeRiso, and Leah Zangger. Natalie Williams also finished fifth in the long jump with a leap of 17’ 1”. Trinity Chatfield was sixth in the high jump with a jump of 5’ 0” and Levi Klein finished sixth in the 300 Intermediate Hurdles in a personal best time of 43.05. Lillie Shoemaker finished seventh in the shot put with a toss of 34’ 11” and the boys 4X400 relay team of Jordan Williams, Easton Ryschon, Garret Severance, and Elijah Pollard also finished seventh in a time of 3:38.75. in the 1600 in a time of 5:59.88 and Gunner Rice was 11

in the 3200 in a time of 11:12.24. Addi Blaha qualified for the meet in the pole vault but was injured in warm ups and was unable to continue.
