The Ord High School track and field teams competed in the LouPlatte Conference meet on Friday, May 2 in Central City.  Both the boys and girls came home with third place finishes from the meet.  “I felt as good about our performances in this meet as I have all season”, Coach Derry Trampe said. “I was very proud of the way we competed and what our kids accomplished this last week.  We brough home several gold medals from the meet and we had over 20 personal best marks on the day.  We seem to be reaching our peak at the right time of the season.” Central City won the boys title with 132 points while Doniphan-Trumbull was second with 100 points.  The Chants scored 89 points to finish third.  Rounding out the team scores were: St. Paul (61), Ravenna (47), Wood River (39), Arcadia-Loup City (37), Centura (13), and Gibbon (9). 


The girls scored 100.66 points to finish in third place in a close team race.  St. Paul won the conference meet with 117 and Central City was second was 111.  Rounding out the team scores were: Doniphan-Trumbull (77), Ravenna (35), Wood River (27.33), Arcadia-Loup City (26), Centura (24), and Gibbon (9).


Elijah Pollard won four gold medals in the meet.  Pollard won the 400 in a time of 50.60 and the 1600 in a personal best time of 4:38.44.  He teamed up with Jordan Williams, Easton Ryschon, and Beau Wells to win the 4X400 relay in a season best time of 3:32.92.  He was also a member of the 4X800 relay team with Jordan Williams, Gunner Rice, and Garret Severance that won the race in a time of 8:22.63. Second place medals were won by Beau Wells, Jed Boettcher, and Levi Klein.  Wells earned his medal in the pole vault with a jump of 13’ 0” and Boettcher was second in the discus with a toss of 151’ 0”.  Levi Klein was second in both the high hurdles and intermediate hurdles.  Kleins time in the high hurdles was 16.80 and his time in the intermediate hurdles was 43.96.  Fourth place medals were won by Garret Severance in the 800 (2:12.65), Gunner Rice in the 3200 (11:01.02), and the 4X100 relay team of Easton Ryschon, Jordan Williams, Grey Geiser, and Beau Wells (45.36).  Jordan Williams finished 5th in the 400 with a time of 54.29 and Gage Kolar was 5th in the pole vault with a jump of 12’ 6” which was a personal best for him. Gunner Rice had a personal best jump in the pole vault of 11’ 6” to finish sixth.


Natalie Williams also won four gold medals in the meet. Williams won the 100 (12.45), 200 (25.79), long jump (16’ 11.25”) and was a member of the winning 4X100 relay team.  Williams teamed up with Avarie Fox, Klair DeRiso, and Leah Zangger to win the event in a time of 51.07.  McKenna Hernandez finished first in the 1600 in a time of 5:51.46 and Trinity Chatfield won the high jump with a jump of 5’ 4”. Second place medals were won by Leah Zangger in the 200 with a personal best time of 26.53.  The 4X800 relay team of McKenna Hernandez, Avery Bruha, Alex Jeffres, and Gentry Racek also finished second in a time of 10:58.03. Avery Bruha added a third-place finish in the 3200 in a time of 13:59.60. Fourth place medals were won by Leah Zangger in the 400 (62.24 PB), Lillie Shoemaker in the shot put (35’ 9”), and Avery Bruha and Gentry Racek tied in the pole vault (8’ 0”). Fifth place medals were won by Lillie Shoemaker in the discus (102’ 3” PB) and Molly Klimek in the high jump (4’ 10”).
