Boys 4 X 100 Relay Sets School Record


The Ord High School track and field teams hosted their annual invitational on Thursday, May 8 at Bussell Park.  The Chanticleer girls won the team title while the boys finished as runners-up in the team race.  “We had a very good day with our teams”, Coach Derry Trampe said.  “We held kids out of some events to keep them a little fresh for districts and we still scored a lot of points in the meet.  I have been very pleased with how our kids have competed all year and this meet was no exception.  It looks like we are starting to peak at the right time.” The girls scored 101 points to win the team title by 10 points over St. Paul (91).  Boone Central was a distant third with 74 points.  Rounding out the team scores were: Central City (67), Burwell (63), Hershey (61), Grand Island CC (52), and Arcadia-Loup City (14).


The boys scored 95.25 points to finish second by just 3 points to Grand Island CC (98.25).  Central City was third with 88.5 points. Rounding out the team scores were: Boone Central (77), St. Paul (66), Hershey (57), Burwell (24), and Arcadia-Loup City (21).


The Chanticleer girls won four events on the day with Natalie Williams winning 3 individual events.  Williams won the 100 (12.66/12.47), the 200 in a meet record time of 25.58, and the long jump (16’ 7.5”).  Also winning gold for the Chants was Trinity Chatfield in the high jump with a personal best tying height of 5’ 4”.  Second place medals were won by Leah Zangger in the 200 (26.51 (PB), McKenna Hernandez in the 1600 (5:52.72), and the 4X100 relay team of Natalie Williams, Avarie Fox, Klair DeRiso, and Leah Zangger (50.66).  Third place awards were won by Lillie Shoemaker in the shot put (36’ 3.5”), Azia Giron in the triple jump (31’ 1”), Gentry Racek in the pole vault (8’ 2” PB), the 4X400 relay team of Gentry Racek, Avarie Fox, McKenna Hernandez, and Klair DeRiso (4:36.07), and the 4X800 relay team of McKenna Hernandez, Avary Bruha, Alexandra Jeffres, and Gentry Racek (10:56.94).  Avery Bruha added a fourth place medal in the 3200 with a time of 14:13.9.  Molly Klimek and Jamie Vavra tied for fifth in the high jump at a height of 4’ 8”.  Avery Bruha also finished sixth in the pole vault with a personal best height of 8’ 2”.


The boys won three events on the day. Elijah Pollard won the 1600-meter run in a meet record time of 4:34.76 which was also a personal best mark.  Jed Boettcher won the discus with a toss of 151’ 8” and the 4X800 relay team of Jordan Williams, Gunner Rice, Garret Severance, and Elijah Pollard won gold in a time of 8:23.42. Silver medals were won by Jordan Williams in the 400 (53.50 PB), Gunner Rice in the 3200 (10:52.11 PB), Levi Klein in the 300 IH (43.04 PB), Jed Boettcher in the shot put (47’ 4” PB), and Beau Wells in the pole vault (13’ 2”). Third place awards went to Levi Klein in the 110 HH (16.70 PB) and the 4X400 relay team of Jordan Williams, Easton Ryschon, Beau Wells, and Elijah Pollard (3:34.50). Brodie Klimek finished fourth in the 3200 in a time of 11:21.09.  The 4X100 relay team of Easton Ryschon, Jordan Williams, Grey Geiser, and Beau Wells finished fourth in the event and set a school record with a time of 45.05.  Fifth place medals were won by Garret Severance in the 800 (2:12.550 and Gage Kolar in the pole vault (11’ 8”). Severance added a sixth place medal in the 400 with a personal best time of 55.05 and Easton Ryschon tied for 6th in the high jump at 5’ 5”.
