The Chanticleer golf team wrapped up the regular season schedule with a 5th place finish at the Fullerton Invite.  The Chants were only 8 strokes from first place shooting a 336 while Archangels shot a 328.  Central City was runner up at 329.

Landon Critel lead the Chants with a 78 to finish 7th individually while Caden Lytle brought home another medal with 80 for 8th place.  Colt Meyer, Brody Blair and Colton Thompson all shot 89 to round out the scoring.

Coach Mike Bechtold said the Chants were not quite on top of their games on the whole but singled out a couple good performances.

“Landon has been steadily improving and has his game in a great place right now,” Bechtold said, “and he seems poised to break another barrier by shooting in the low 70s soon.”

Bechtold also credited Thompson for playing well when called upon.

“Colton shot in the 80’s for the first time and left several shots out there. He has taken a step toward contributing to the team score in a big way.”

The Chants also dualed Arcadia Loup City on Monday and won 3 matches to 1. It was a two man scramble and Critel/Lytle shot 6 under to win the day.  Meyer/Blair shot 2 under, Thompson/Austin Stethem shot 40, Deegen Nebesniak/Barron Stunkel shot 46 and Colt Bandiera/ Colby Hissong shot 48.

The Chants play districts on Tuesday, May 20th at Indianhead in Grand Island.
