Broken Bow, NE - The Ord Chanticleers put on a show under the Friday night lights, shutting out the Broken Bow Indians 35-0 in front of a packed home crowd on September 19. From the opening kickoff, Ord’s balance of offensive firepower and defensive toughness set the tone for a convincing district win.
Quarterback Jordan Williams led the way, accounting for five total touchdowns. Williams opened the scoring in the first quarter with a 26-yard strike to Haydin Nelson, then followed it up with back-to-back rushing scores from five and one yard out. By the end of the opening frame, the Chanticleers were in full control, up 21-0.
Ord continued the aerial attack in the second quarter when Williams connected with Easton Ryschon on a 35-yard touchdown pass. In the third, he found Beau Wells on a 15-yard score to cap the night’s scoring. Kicker Colt Meyer was perfect on the evening, drilling all five extra points.
The Chanticleers racked up 326 total yards of offense, with Williams throwing for 100 yards and rushing for 131 more. Grey Geiser added 50 yards on the ground.
While the offense rolled, Ord’s defense pitched a shutout, forcing four turnovers and holding Broken Bow to just eight first downs. The Chanticleer defense smothered the Indians all night long. Williams also made his mark on the other side of the ball, coming away with two interceptions.
“Our kids played with great energy, discipline, and toughness,” Head Coach Nate Wells said after the game. “It was a complete team effort—offense, defense, and special teams all did their job tonight.”
The win moves Ord to 1-3 on the season. The Chanticleers will look to keep their momentum going next Friday at home against St. Paul.
