The Chants hosted the Minden Wippets on Thursday night. In the first quarter the teams would trade buckets and the Wippets would take a 15-13 lead after the 1st quarter. The Wippets would extend the lead to eight at half. To start the 2nd half the Chants would cut the lead to two in the 3rd and 4th quarters but were unable to take a lead. Late free throws by the Wippets would give them the victory. “We played well tonight but just not well enough to win. Give them credit for closing the game out and not letting us get the lead.” Coach Gates said after the game. The Chants were led by Jordan Williams with 16 points Beau Wells added 15 and Landon Critel added 12 points and six assists.. Knox Nelson would lead the team with seven boards.
On Friday night the Chants traveled to Gibbon to take on the buffalos. The Chants would take the 1st quarter 23-12 and never look back. The Chants would cruise to a 80-19 victory over the Buffalos. “We got a fast start offensively and that was important and important for us to bounce back after a tough loss the night before.” Coach Gates would say after the game. Every player on the Chants roster would score a bucket in the contest. The Chants were led by Landon Critel with 18 points. Beau Wells, Knox Nelson and Finn Riley would each add 11 points in the win. Colton Thompson would add five rebounds in the win. The Chants will travel to St. Paul on Friday before beginning a stretch of five games in twelve days.
