On Tuesday night, the Chanticller boys opened their week by traveling to Adams Central to take on the Patriots. The Patriots took the first quarter 17-11 and then used a late run to take a 31-18 lead at the half. In the 2nd half, the Chants would fight back and cut the deficit to eight by the end of the 3rd quarter. With a minute to go, the game was a four-point contest, but a bucket by the Patriots put them up six, and the Chants would get no closer. The Patriots would take the game 56-47. “We had a slow start, and that put us in a bad position against a good team. I commend our guys for coming back, but we have to avoid falling behind like that.” Coach Gates would say after the game. The Chants were led by Jordan Williams, who scored 21 points. Landon Critel would add 18. 

On Friday Night, the Chant boys hosted the Boone Central Cardinals, and the game started like previous games with a slow start by the Chants, falling behind 18-9 in the 1st quarter. “That was not the start we wanted, and I was glad we were able to recover from it tonight.” Coach Gates said after the game. In the 2nd quarter, the Chants would rally and go on a 10-0 Run to take a 1-point lead going into halftime. From there, the game would go back and forth with the teams taking the lead back from each other. The Chants were ahead by 6 with four minutes left and then hung on for a 54-50 victory as Jordan Williams went 4-4 from the free-throw line in the final 30 seconds to seal the win. The Chants were led by Beau Wells, who scored 17 points. Landon Critel added 15 points. Jordan Williams recorded a double-double with 12 points and 12 assists. Colton Thompson posted eight rebounds in the win.  

On Saturday Night, the boys hosted Arcadia Loup City. Unlike the night before, the Chants jumped out to a 9-0 lead on three straight threes. “That start was big for us tonight, and  I was glad to see you start the first few possessions like that.” Coach Gates said.  However, the Rebels would rally to cut the 1st quarter deficit, and the Chants would only lead 19-14 after the 1st quarter. The Rebels would battle back and take a one-point lead in the 2nd quarter before a late surge in the 2nd quarter would give the Chants a four-point lead at the break. In the 3rd quarter, the Chants would start with a flourish before the Rebels again would rally to keep the game close with the Chants holding a 44-39 lead. In the 4th, the Chants would begin to pull away with a 21-point 4th quarter and get a 65-47 victory. The Chants were led by Beau Wells with 20 points. Landon Critel would add 16 points. Jordan Williams would score 12 points. Knox Nelson would add nine points and eight rebounds. Colton Thompson would add seven assists in the win. The Chants will host Wood River on Tuesday before traveling to C-1 Top Ten Doniphan Trumbull on Thursday.
