On Tuesday night, the Chants hosted the Wood River Eagles. The Eagles jumped out to a 6-0 lead before the Chants rallied, and a late buck by Knox Nelson put the Chants up 12-8 after the 1st. The Chants were able to win the 2nd quarter by six and took a ten-point lead going into halftime. In the 3rd, the Chants would extend the lead and then pull away from the Eagles. The Chants would take the victory 66-41. “In the 2nd half, we did a good job of attacking and finishing on offense, and that really helped us pull away.” Coach Gates said. The Chants were led by Beau Wells with 21 points. Jordan Williams and Landon Critel would each tally 14 points.  Knox Nelson would add nine in the victory. Colton Thompson led the Chants with eight rebounds. 

On Thursday, the Chants traveled to top-10 Doniphan-Trumbull. The Cardinals and Chants would trade buckets in the 1st quarter, and the Cardinals would take a 21-16 lead. In the 2nd quarter, the Chants would go cold from the field, and the Cardinals would respond and win the quarter 21-4. Giving the Cardinal a 20-point lead at the break. The rest of the game would be played evenly between the two teams. “That 2nd quarter we missed some good looks and just didn’t play well enough on the defensive end to stop those guys.” Coach Gates said after the game. The Chants were led by Jordan Williams with 15 points. Knox Nelson would add 12 points. Landon Critel would score nine, and Beau Wells would score eight. The Chants will host Ravenna on Tuesday in the first round of the Conference Tournament.
