On Tuesday, March 24, the reserve track team members competed in the annual Anselmo-
Merna track invitational. The girls finished third in the six-team field with 84 points. There
were just 2.5 points out of second and 12.5 points out of first. Brady won the meet with 96.5
points while Anselmo-Merna was second with 86.5 points. “I was pleasantly surprised by how
we did in this meet”, Coach Trampe stated. “We have a lot of young girls on our team this year
and this meet gave them a chance to compete in a lot of events. We found out we have some
girls that are going to be pretty good track and field athletes for us.” Rounding out the team
scoring were Sandhills/Thedford (70), CWC (63), and Twin Loup (53).
The boys finished 6 th in the six-team field with 34 points. Anselmo-Merna won the meet
with 144 points while Twin Loup was second with 119 points. “I felt good about what our
younger boys accomplished in this meet”, Coach Trampe said. “We had a lot of quality marks
and we found some events that we can work these guys into at our varsity meets.” Rounding out
the team scoring were CWC (86), Brady (77), and Sandhills/Thedford (47).
Brooklynn Wagner led the way with a first place finish in the high jump. Wagner tied the
meet record with a jump of 4’ 8” to bring home the gold. Also brining home a gold medal was
the 4X400 relay team of Claire Petska, Mya Beland, Judith Biskeborn, and Kynlie Wilson. The
team combined to win the race in 4:56.11. Second place medals were won by Evie Peterson in
the 100HH (19.17), Josie Breitkreutz in the triple jump (28’ 4”), and Kinley Wilson in the high
jump (4’ 6”). Third place medals went to Kinley Wilson in the 100 (14.72), Mya Beland in the
300LH (57.71 PB), Claire Petska in the triple jump (28’ 2.75”), and the 4X100 relay team of
Kynlie Wilson, Josie Breitkreutz, Mya Beland, and Evie Peterson (59.39). Picking up fourth
place medals were Claire Petsak in the 800 (2:50.87 PB) and 1600 (6:20.77) and Brylie Collier in
the discus (88’ 7”). Fifth place awards went to Judith Biskborn in the 400 (77.55 PB) and Evie
Peterson in the 300 LH (62.00).
Jacob Medina was the highest place finisher for the boys with a second place finish in the
1600 run. Medina’s time of 5:34.92 was a personal best time for him. Kyptan Scheideler
finished third in the pole vault with a jump of 9’ 6”. Also finishing third was the 4X400 relay
team of Nolan Wooward, Jacob Dorenbach, Jacob Medina, and Victor Negrete in a time of
4:22.34. The 4X100 relay team of Jacob Medina, Nolan Woodward, Victor Negrete, and Kyptan
Scheideler finished fourth in a time of 52.50. Fifth place medals were won by Zavian Pike in the
shot put (37’ 10”), Chance Moudry in the discus (98’ 6” PB) and triple jump (33’ 3”), and Victor
Negrete in the high jump (4’ 8”). Sixth place awards were won by Jacob Medina in the 800
(2:32.72) and Jacob Dorenbach in the triple jump (31’ 2.5”).
