Wells Sets School Record in Pole Vault
The Ord High School track and field teams competed in the annual ALC Rebel track and field invitational on Thursday, March 26 in Loup City. The girls won the team title with 138 points which was 18 points better than runner-up St. Paul (120). “I was pleasantly surprised by how our girls did in this meet”, Coach Derry Trampe stated. “Looking at the teams coming into the meet I thought we might finish second or third, but we really competed well throughout the day, and we have some quality points on this team. We should have a good season if we continue to work hard and continue to improve every week.” Rounding out the team scoring were: Grand Island CC (76), Central Valley (73), Riverside (47), South Loup (47), Kenesaw (40), ALC (33), Ravenna (27), Ansley/Litchfield (22), Elba (15), and Newman Grove/St. Edward (3).
The boys scored 51.5 points to finish in sixth place on the day. Grand Island CC ran away with the meet scoring 174.5 points while St. Paul finished as the runner-up with 75 points. “We were missing a couple of key contributors to our team due to mild injuries and that may have helped us contend for second or third place”, Coach Trampe stated. “However, we felt it was best to hold them out this week and give them a chance to heal properly so we have them for the remainder of the season. We have some quality boys on our squad and now we need to figure out what events will help us maximize our points at future meets.” Rounding out the team scores for the boys were: Kenesaw (68), South Loup (66), Central Valley (59), Newman Grove/St. Edward (44), ALC (40), Ravenna (36), Riverside (32), Elba (13.5), and Ansley/Litchfield (0.5).
