Girls 4X100 Weight Relay Sets School Record; Trinity Chatfield ties School Record in High Jump
The Ord High School track and field teams ran into quality competition at the Broken Bow invitational on Friday, April 10. The boys finished 11th in the 12-team field with 13 points while the girls were 8th in the field of 12 teams with 36 points. “This is always a very competitive meet but it was very competitive this year”, Coach Derry Trampe said. “We competed well in this meet but we just finished out of the medals in several events. We had a total of 24 personal best performances on the day and established a new school record and tied another one.” The girls 4X100 weight relay team of Lillie Shoemaker, Allison Wheeler, Josie Breitkreutz, and Ellie Boettcher broke a record they set a week earlier with a time of 58.04 and a first-place finish. Trinity Chatfield tied the school record and won the high jump with a leap of 5’ 6”. Her effort tied the meet record as well as the school record set by Lisa Barr in 2003.
In addition to the two first place finishes, the Chanticleer girls brought home several other medals from the meet. Leah Zangger earned two individual medals on the day with a second-place finish in the 200 (26.85) and third place in the100 (13.07). Elle Jess brought home a fifth-place medal in the 400 in a personal best time of 65.43 and Lillie Shoemaker finished sixth in the shot put with a toss of 35’ 5.75”. All three relays earned medals in the meet with the 4X100 placing the highest. The team of Gentry Racek, Avarie Fox, Klair DeRiso, and Leah Zangger combined to run a season best time of 51.62 to finish in third place. The 4X400 relay team of Leah Zangger, Klair DeRiso, Elle Jess, and Gentry Racek finished 5th in 4:23.05. The 4X800 relay team of McKenna Hernandez, Elle Jess, Avery Bruha, and Gentry Racek finished in 6th place in a season best time of 10:38.78.
The boys placed in four events on the day with Beau Wells bringing home the highest finish for the team. Wells vaulted 14’ 0” to finish second in the pole vault. The 4X800 relay team of James Piskorski, Jaxson Sander, Gavin Whited, and Finn Reilly finished 4th in a season best time of 9:00.32 taking more than 36 seconds off their best time of the season. The 4X100 weight person relay team of Chance Moudry, Mason Bauer, Zavian Pike, and Parker Mageria finished 4th in a season best time of 51.98. The 4X100 relay team of Levi Klein, Jordan Williams, Evan Lane, and Beau Wells finished 6th in a time of 46.35.
