Trinity Chatfield Ties Meet Record in High Jump

The Ord High School track and field teams had a solid day at the 65th annual O’Neill Track and Field Invitational on Thursday, April 16.  The girls finished third in the 14-team field with a total of 81 points.  Norfolk Catholic won the meet with 108.5 points while O’Neill was second with 90 points.  “I felt like we competed really well for the most part in this meet”, Coach Derry Trampe stated.  “We had 28 personal best marks on the day and brought home several medals.  Our kids are getting better every meet and that is all we can ask of them.  We still have some room to improve and I know we will.  This is a hard working group of kids.”  Rounding out the team scores in the girls’ division were Ainsworth (44), Wausa (40), North Central (40), Valentine (29), Bloomfield (29), St. Mary’s (15), CWC (14), Burke SD (12.5), Elgin Public/Pope John (8), Boyd County (8), and Summerland (8).

The boys scored 31 points on the day to finish in 8th place in the 14-team field.  “We have a good number of boys out and they are young but improving”, Coach Trampe said.  “We continue to see improvement every week, and we picked up several medals.  We had a lot of 4th, 5th, and 6th place medals which is great, but you don’t score a lot of points.  We just need to turn those medals into 2nd and 3rd place medals.”  O’Neill won the meet with 101 points while Norfolk Catholic was a distant second with 76 points.  Rounding out the team scores were Valentine (57), North Central (51), Bloomfield (50), St. Mary’s (47), Ainsworth (41), CWC (19), Burke SD (14), Wausa (14), Summerland (14), Elgin Public/Pope John (11), and Boyd County (1).
