Beau Wells Sets School Record in Pole Vault

The 9/10 track teams hosted their own invitational on Monday, April 20 at the Ord football field and track.  It was a successful day for the Chanticleers as the girls won the team title and the boys were second in their division.  “We had a really good day and a nice day to compete”, Coach Derry Trampe commented.  “The kids had nice weather, and several meet records were set and our kids had a total of 47 personal best marks on the day.  I am excited to see what these kids do as they get older and stronger.” Ten teams competed in the meet on Monday.  The girls scored 104 points and finished 8 points ahead of runner-up Boone Central (96) and St. Paul was a close third with 90 points.  Rounding out the team scoring in the girls division were Aurora (48), Arcadia-Loup City (39), Broken Bow (38), Central City (37), Centura (36), Ravenna (30), and Elba (6).  The boys scored 94 points to finish just 6 points behind meet champion Aurora (100).  St. Paul finished in third place with 82 points.  Rounding out the team scoring in the boys division were Boone Central (67), Centura (60), Arcadia-Loup City (36), Central City (33), Ravenna (15), and Elba (5).

The girls won three gold medals in the meet.  Leah Zangger won the 200 in a meet record time of 26.67.  Ellie Boettcher won the shot put with a personal best toss of 35’ 7.5” and Adalyn Kelly won the high jump with a jump of 4’ 10”.  Ellie and Leah also won silver medals in the meet.  Boettcher was second in the discus with a personal best toss of 110’ 3” and Zangger was second in the triple jump with a leap of 32’ 4”.  Third place awards went to Avarie Fox in the 200 (27.82 PB) and long jump (15’ 2.5” PB), Claire Petska in the 800 (2:44.23 PB), and McKenna Hernandez in the 1600 (6:07.77).  Scoring fourth place points were Claire Petska in the 1600 (6:15.72 PB), Macy Sitz in the 3200 (20:33.24), Evie Peterson in the high hurdles (18.41 PB), Peyton Melnick in the low hurdles (53.88 PB), the 4x100 relay team of Kinley Wilson, Peyton Melnick, Adalyn Kellt, and Josie Breitkreutz (56.26), and the 4x400 relay team of Claire Petska, Mya Beland, Peyton Melnick, and Daisy Shafer (4:37.52). Finish in fifth place were Daisy Shafer in the 800 (2:45.82 PB), Mya Beland in the low hurdles (55.19 PB), and Avarie Fox in the triple jump (29’ 8.5”).  Sixth place points were earned by Avarie Fox in the 100 (13.52 PB) and Josie Breitkreutz in the triple jump (29’ 7.5” PB).

The boys won five events in the meet.  Beau Wells won the pole vault with a personal best and school and meet record jump of 15’ 0”.  Also winning gold were Finn Reilly in the 1600 (5:04.16), James Piskorski in the 3200 (10:57.70 PB), Parker Mageria in the shot put (41’ 11” PB), and the 4x800 relay team of James Piskorski, Jaxson Sanders, Jacob Medina, and Finn Reilly (9:40.20).  Kane Whited finished second in the triple jump with a personal best jump of 35’ 5” to earn a silver medal.  Third place medals went to Kane Whited in the high hurdles (17.81 PB), Evan Lane in the triple jump (35’ 1.5”), and the 4x400 relay team of Jaxon Edghill, Jaxson Sanders, Nolan Woodward, and Parker Mageria (3:51.98). Picking up fourth place points were Finn Reilly in the 800 (2:16.70) and Kane Whited in the intermediate hurdles (47.81 PB).  Fifth place finishers were Jaxson Sanders in the 800 (2:19.69 PB), Beau Shafer in the shot put (39’ 2”), and Evan Lane in the long jump (17’ 3.5” PB).  Finishing in sixth place were Evan Lane in the 200 (25.19), Jaxon Edghill in the 400 (58.03), Chance Moudry in the shot put (39’ 1.75” PB), and Beau Shafer in the discus (109’ 3”).
