4x100 Girls Throwers Relay Breaks School Record Again
The Ord High School track and field teams had one of their best meets of the season at the annual West Holt Track and Field Invitational on Friday, April 24. The athletes competing in the meet combined to set 44 personal best marks in the meet and earn 46 total medals on the day. The boys finished third in the seven-team field with 99 points. This was their highest point total of the season. The girls finished second in the team race with a total of 117.5 points. “We had a great day on Friday”, Head Coach Derry Trampe commented. “We had a ton of personal best marks and won a lot of medals on the day. We are starting to wind the season down and reducing the amount of work we do in practice, so I am looking for us to continue recording better marks for the rest of the season. West Holt won the boys team race with 139 points while Valentine was second with 115 points. Rounding out the boys’ team scoring were North Central (76), Ainsworth (55), Sandhills/Thedford (15), and Neligh-Oakdale (10). West Holt also won the team title in the girl’s team race. The Huskies scored 167.5 points to claim the title. Rounding out the team scoring were Valentine (70), North Central (69), Ainsworth (54), Sandhills/Thedford (28), and Neligh-Oakdale (13).
The boys had three individual champions in the meet. Beau Wells continues to do well in the pole vault as he won the event with a jump of 13’ 6”. Finn Reilly won the 1600 while James Piskorski won the 3200. Reilly finished in the 1600 in 4:56.58 and Piskorski completed the 3200 in a time of 10:44.15. Both marks were personal best efforts for the freshmen. Second place medals were won by James Piskorski in the 1600 (5:04.87 PB), the 4X400 relay team of Easton Ryschon, Levi Klein, Jaxson Sanders, and Jaxon Edghill (3:42.08), the 4X800 relay team of James Piskorski, Jaxson Sanders, Gavin Whited, and Finn Reilly (9:00.26), and the 4X100 Throwers relay team of Calvin Thomsen, Beau Shafer, Chance Moudry, and Parker Mageria (48.39). Bringing home third place medals were Gavin Whited in the 1600 (5:10.26) and 3200 (11:13.37 PB), and the 4X100 relay team of Levi Klein, Jaxon Edghill, Easton Ryschon, and Evan Lane (46.98). Fourth place medals were won by Jaxson Sanders in the 800 (2:16.97 PB), Levi Klein in the 110 HH (16.27/16.21 PB) and 300 IH (44.34), and Easton Ryschon in the triple jump (38’ 3” PB). Fifth place points were scored by Jaxon Edghill in the 400 (56.90), Kane Whited in the 110 HH (17.73/17.45 PB), and Evan Lane in the triple jump (36’ 0” PB). Finishing in sixth place were Evan Lane in the 200 (25.41/24.73 PB), Kane Whited in the triple jump (35’ 11.25” PB), Jacob Medina and Victor Negrete tied in the high jump (4’ 4”), and Kyptan Scheideler in the pole vault (10’ 6” PB).
The girls won three events in the meet as well. The 4X100 Throwers relay of Lillie Shoemaker, Allison Wheeler, Elizabeth Skibinski, and Ellie Boettcher won the event and set a new school record in a time if 57.89. Trinity Chatfield continued her winning ways in the high jump as she claimed first place with a leap of 5’ 3”. Leah Zangger brought home the gold medal in the 200 as well. After running a 26.85 to advance to the finals, Zangger ran a personal best time of 26.07 to win the event. Second place medals were won by Leah Zangger in the 100 (12.81/12.72), Klair DeRiso in the long jump (15’ 3.75”), Adalyn Kelly in the high jump (4’ 11”), Addi Blaha in the pole vault (9’ 6”), the 4X800 relay team of McKenna Hernandez, Elle Jess, Avery Bruha, and Gentry Racek (10:34.64), and the 4X100 Freshmen relay team of Kinley Wilson, Peyton Melnick, Adalyn Kelly, and Judith Biskeborn (56.88). Bringing home third place medals were Elle Jess in the 400 (65.23 PB), McKenna Hernandez in the 1600 (5:49.33), Avarie Fox in the long jump (14’ 7.25”), the 4X100 relay team of Gentry Racek, Lillie Shoemaker, Klair DeRiso, and Leah Zangger (53.06), and the 4X400 relay team of Klair DeRiso, Gentry Racek, Mya Beland, and Leah Zangger (4:21.76). Fourth place awards went to Klair DeRiso in the 200 (27.78/27.40 PB), Elle Jess in the 800 (2:40.08), and Peyton Melnick in the 300 LH (52.85 PB). Picking up fifth place medals were Avery Bruha in the 3200 (13:34.83), Peyton Melnick in the 100 HH (18.53/18.23 PB), Mya Beland in the 300 LH (53.83 PB), Ellie Boettcher in the discus (109’ 4”), Azia Giron in the triple jump (30’ 8.25”), and Gentry Racek in the pole vault (8’ 0”). Sixth place medals were won by Daisy Shafer in the 800 (2:40.17 PB), Lillie Shoemaker in the shot put (34’ 5.75”) and discus (102’ 3”), and Brooklynn Wagner in the long jump (13’ 11.5” PB). Avarie Fox qualified for the finals in the 200 but had to withdraw from the race due to an injury in the prelims.
