Beau Wells Ties Conference Record in Pole Vault
The Ord High School track and field teams competed in the annual Louplatte Conference Track meet on Friday, May 1 in Centura. The girls finished third in the nine-team field with 82 points. Central City won the meet with 153 points while St. Paul was second with 131 points. “Our girls had a good day at conference this year”, Coach Derry Trampe said. “We have a couple of key girls that are hurt and were unable to compete and that hurt us a little but not enough to move us up in the standings. Hopefully, we can get them back by the time we compete in districts.” Rounding out the team scoring were Centura (51), Doniphan-Trumbull (45), Arcadia-Loup City (34.5), Gibbon (11), Wood River 910.5), and Ravenna (9).
The boys had a good day as far as personal best marks but finished eighth in the team standings with 22 points. “Our boys performed well on the day, but our conference has a lot of quality boy track and field athletes right now”, Trampe said. “We have some key people that are out with injuries and that may have moved us up to the top 5 but we must compete as well as we can each week. I am happy with how hard we worked at this meet and look for good things as we close out the season. This is a young team that will be a very good team over the next several years.” Doniphan-Trumbull won a tight team race over Central City. The Cardinals scored 126 points to edge out the Bison (122). Rounding out the team scores were Wood River (77), St. Paul (69), Ravenna (39), Arcadia-Loup City (27), Centura (27), and Gibbon (18).
