The Ord High School track and field teams hosted their own invitational on Thursday, May 7 at Bussell Park.  A total of eight new meet records were set on a beautiful day for a track meet.  “We had a very nice day to host a meet”, Coach Derry Trampe said. “The temperatures were in the low 70’s and the wind was light.  That makes for a lot of new records.  I was pleased with how well the meet went and with the efforts of our athletes.  It was another good day where we had 40 new personal best performances by our kids.”  The Chanticleer girls finished second in the team standings in a very close team race.  Central City won the meet with 85.5 points while the Chants were right behind with 84.5 points.  Boone Central was a close third with 81 points.  Rounding out the team scoring were St. Paul (79), Grand Island CC (77), Burwell (58), Hershey (35), and Arcadia-Loup City (26).  The boys finished fifth in the 8-team field with 59 points.  Hershey won the meet with 102 points while Grand Island CC was second with 93 points. Rounding out the team scoring were Central City (85), St. Paul (83), Arcadia-Loup City (56), Boone Central (48), and Burwell (0).

Beau Wells led the way for the boys with a first-place finish in the pole vault.  Wells won the event with a jump of 13’ 6”. Winning silver medals in the meet were James Piskorski and Evan Lane.  Piskorski earned his medal in the 3200 with a personal best time of 10:43.50 and Lane won his medal in the triple jump with a personal best jump of 38’ 4.5”.  Third place medals were won by Kyptan Scheideler in the pole vault (10’ 7” PB), the 4X400 relay team of Easton Ryschon, Jaxon Edghill, Parker Mageria, and Beau Wells (3:40.03), and the 4X800 relay team of James Piskorski, Jaxson Sanders, Gavin Whited, and Finn Reilly (8:57.30).  Fourth place awards went to Finn Reilly in the 1600 (4:54.90). Gavin Whited in the 3200 (11:12.91), and Evan Lane in the long jump (19’ 6.5” PB).  Sixth place medals were won by Jaxon Edghill in the 400 (54.95 PB), Jaxson Sanders in the 800 (2:15.50 PB), and the 4X100 relay team of Jaxon Edghill, Evan Lane, Easton Ryschon, and Beau Wells (45.76).

Trinity Chatfield and the 4X800 relay team of McKenna Hernandez, Elle Jess, Daisy Shafer, and Gentry Racek won gold medals in the meet.  Chatfield won the high jump with a jump of 5’ 1” and the relay team finished first in a time of 10:24.81.  Second place medals were won by Leah Zangger in the 200 (25.91/26.11 PB), Lillie Shoemaker in the shot put (36’ 5.5”), and Azia Giron in the triple jump (31’ 3”).  Third place points were scored by Leah Zangger in the 100 (12.86/12.66), Avery Bruha in the 3200 (13:15.47 PB), and the 4X400 relay team of Klair DeRiso, Gentry Racek, Elle Jess, and Mya Beland (4:17.91).  Fourth place awards went to Ellei Boettcher in the shot put (34’ 6.5”), Klair DeRiso in the long jump (15’ 6.5” PB), and Addi Blaha in the pole vault (9’ 1”). Fifth place medals were won by Klair DeRiso in the 200 (27.61/27.71), McKenna Hernandez in the 1600 (5:53.46), Ellie Boettcher in the discus (105’ 4”), Gentry Racek in the pole vault (8’ 7”), and the 4X100 relay team of Gentry Racek, Elle Jess, Klair DeRiso, and Leah Zangger (51.44). Peyton Melinck added a sixth place finish in the 300 low hurdles with a personal best time of 52.64.
