Caden Lytle shot an 82 and a 77 at the Class C State Championships. The scores were good for 42nd. The championship held at Indianhead in Grand Island was won by Nash Malone of Kearney Catholic. Fremont Bergan won the team title, with the three teams from Ord’s district going 2,3,4. Adams Central lost a playoff with Bergan for 1st, Kearney Catholic was third and St. Paul 4th.
Lytle capped off a wonderful season in which he medaled at every meet of the year. His highlight was a 74 at the district championship.
Coach Mike Bechtold said Lytle was a bit disappointed in his last meet but said that is golf.
“Caden was just running putts by the lip both days, nothing really fell,” Bechtold said, “If he gets a few of those to go, it would have been a different story. But that’s golf.”
Lytle is going on to play college golf at Southeast in Beatrice.
