Lincoln, NE - The Ord Chanticleers continued their undefeated start to the season Friday night, traveling to Lincoln and coming away with a convincing 40-7 victory over the Lincoln Lutheran Warriors. The win improves Ord to 4-0 on the season.
Ord came out fast, scoring 21 points in the opening quarter. Jordan Williams got the scoring started with a 62-yard touchdown run. Beau Wells followed with a 4-yard touchdown run, and Williams added another 4-yard score to give the Chanticleers a 21-0 lead after the first quarter. The Chanticleers continued to build their lead in the second quarter. Williams connected with Wells for a 76-yard touchdown pass before adding a 2-yard touchdown run, sending Ord into halftime with a 33-0 advantage.
Ord added another score in the third quarter when Calvin Thomsen broke free for a 29-yard touchdown run. Lincoln Lutheran scored its only touchdown in the fourth quarter, making the final score 40-7.
The Chanticleers finished the night with 413 yards of total offense, including 248 rushing yards and 165 passing yards. Ord’s defense held Lincoln Lutheran to just 198 total yards and 87 yards rushing. Williams led the offense, completing 4 of 8 passes for 165 yards and a touchdown while also rushing nine times for 101 yards and three touchdowns. Wells rushed for 58 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries and caught two passes for 80 yards, including the 76-yard touchdown. Thomsen added 42 yards and a touchdown on four carries, while Knox Nelson had a 59-yard reception.
Defensively, Jaydon Trejo had a strong night with eight tackles, two assists, a sack and three tackles for loss. Williams added eight tackles and four assists, Beau Shafer recorded five tackles and six assists, and Howard Winkelbauer finished with four tackles, six assists and a sack. Evan Lane recorded an interception, while Nolan Woodward recovered a fumble.
The Chanticleers will be at home next Friday to take on the Gothenburg Swedes at 7:00 p.m.
