Wood River NE - The Ord Chanticleers continued their unbeaten start to the season Friday night with a dominant 36-0 road victory over the Wood River Eagles. The win moves Ord to 6-0 on the season and gives the Chanticleers another strong performance away from home.

Ord jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter behind two touchdown runs from Beau Wells. Wells opened the scoring with a 3-yard touchdown and later added an 11-yard score before running in the two-point conversion. After a scoreless second quarter, the Chanticleers took control in the third. Wells broke free for a 47-yard touchdown run, Jordan Williams added a 1-yard rushing touchdown, and the defense recorded a safety to push the lead to 30-0. Ord capped the scoring when Williams connected with Kane Whited for a 16-yard touchdown pass, making the final 36-0.

Ord finished with 270 yards of total offense while holding Wood River to just 104 yards. The Chanticleers rushed for 181 yards and limited the Eagles to only 26 yards on the ground. Ord also forced three turnovers and held Wood River to just one third-down conversion in 10 attempts. Wells led the way offensively with 147 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 24 carries, including the 47-yard score. Williams added 44 rushing yards and a touchdown while completing 8 of 15 passes for 89 yards and a score. Knox Nelson led the receivers with five catches for 58 yards, while Whited caught the 16-yard touchdown pass. Nolan Woodward converted two extra points,

The Chanticleer defense turned in one of its best performances of the season, only allowing 104 yards of total offense. Howard Winkelbauer led the team with seven tackles, three assists and a sack. Jaydon Trejo finished with six tackles, four assists, four sacks and four tackles for loss. Woodward and Williams each had five tackles. Wells intercepted two passes, while Nelson added another interception, and Barron Stunkel had a fumble recovery.

The shutout victory gives Ord a 6-0 record and continues the Chanticleers' strong start to the season. Ord has shown the ability to win in different ways throughout the year, and Friday night's victory was built around a defense that controlled the game from start to finish.
