The Ord golf team grabbed a runner-up finish in the opening meet of the year for them, the Ord Invitational.  Ord shot a 334 and Grand Island Central Catholic shot a 316.  Third place team, O’Neill came in at 346.

Four golfers medaled for the Chants with Kelen Meyer 7th with an 82, Tad Kovarik 9th at 83, Cade Geiser 10th at 83 and Brodie Darnell 14th with an 86.  Trey Warner carded an 89 and finished just out of the medals.

Reserves Grady Sheets and Rowe Lilienthal scored 107 and 108 respectively.

Coach Mike Bechtold was pleased with the first competition of the season.

“It is a great starting point for our season, to get some hardware and feel that we still have much room for improvement,” Bechtold said, “There are several good teams at this invite so it is a high level of competition.  Plus, the nerves were a little on fire as this was their first competitive golf event in two years.”

The Chants go to Albion for Boone Central Invite next Saturday, the 17th.
