Track story

Three members of the Ord High Track Teams won medals at the Central Nebraska Track Championships held on Monday, April 26 at Northwest high school in Grand Island.  “We had a really good night at this meet as we had several season best and a few personal best performances as well”, Coach Derry Trampe commented.  “It really brings out the best in our kids when we compete in this meet and this year was no exception.  We had a lot of kids that qualified for the meet which is always nice to see but it was really great to see the way we competed in the meet.  This track team can do a lot of special things before the season is over.”

Kole Severance was the top finisher for the Chants as she finished second in the 1600-meter run in a season best time of 5:38.61.  “Kloe ran a great race and just got caught at the finish line”, Trampe said.  “I was really impressed with the way she took control of the race especially after she ran an 800 on the relay just 50 minutes earlier.  She is a tough competitor.”  Britta Deden won two medals in the meet by finishing third in both the 100-meter high hurdles and the 300-meter low hurdles.  Deden ran the highs in 16.82 and the 300’s in 48.84.  “Britta is having an outstanding year for us”, Trampe stated.  “She is a fierce competitor and brings her best every time she steps on the track.”  Hayden Kluthe earned a third place medal in the 110-meter high hurdles in a time of 15.88.  “Hayden looks really good in the high hurdles this year”, Trampe noted.  “He just keeps getting better and better every meet.  I am really excited to see how he finishes the season.”
