Ord- The 3-1 Chanticleers returned home to take on the Doniphan-Trumbull Cardinals on a beautiful night in Bussell Park. The Chanticleers got off to a fast start again. The Chants held the Cardinals to a three and out on the first possession and drove the ball 59-Yd for the first touchdown when Dylan Hurlburt ran it in for a 1-Yd score. Doniphan-Trumbull would respond by returning the kickoff for their only first-half score. After the return for a touchdown, the Chanticleer offense and defense played tremendous football scoring 56 pts and holding the Cardinals to one first down in the first half. Dylan Hurlburt ran for a 53-Yd touchdown, Gage Racek ran for a 23-Yd touchdown, John Deriso scored on a 6-Yd touchdown run, Gage Racek raced for a 34-Yd score, John DeRiso scored on a 47-Yd touchdown reception from Dylan Hurlburt, Gage Racek scored on a 9-Yd touchdown run, Aidan Ryschon scored on a 2-Yd run, and Gage Racek scored his 4th touchdown of the game on a 25-Yd run. At the end of the first half, the score was 63-6. At the start of the second half, the Chanticleer coaching staff decided to start the number two’s and they played extremely well. The defense forced 4 punts against the Cardinal varsity team and the Chant offense got multiple first downs but were unable to score. Coach Wells said, “We played extremely well tonight besides giving up a kickoff for a touchdown. We did what we were supposed to tonight and got everyone in the game. That experience is so valuable. There’s nothing like playing under the lights on Friday night.” The Chanticleers are at home again next week and will play Grand Island Central Catholic for Homecoming.
