The lady chants have worked hard to overcome adversity every week. They continue to make progress and growth in multiple areas and are looking forward to the LouPlatte Conference tournament next week.

“This group of girls has worked very hard all season, they have had so much growth and have held their goals in their focus throughout.” Says Coach Smith.

The Lady Chants enter the conference tournament being led in kills by Kaidence Wilson who also leads the team in total blocks. Running the offense will be Shaylee Jacobs, who earlier in the season, obtained 1,000 career set assists. Defensively, Ali Miller heads the libero spot and also leads the team in digs. Lexi Vancura continues to grow and find herself in an offensive and defensive role at the net.

“We lost a big role when Journi Moran was injured early in the season. We are hopeful to get her back in a role where she can provide her spark and energy to this team. She is a wonderful person and a fantastic athlete who we need to get back on the court.” Says Coach Smith. “Maggie Fischer has done a great job stepping into that role, however, she also suffered an injury last week and we have had to adjust and make some changes which means we’ve added Brooklyn Fox, Bailey Setlik and Kaci Bruha to the mix. It truly takes everyone and this year, we have shown that we need to be prepared for anything”.

The Lady Chants know they have not reached their peak and they still have work to do. Marin Reilly has had a break out season and with her and Britta Deden mixed into the offense, it provides an extra layer of authority to the chants. The lady chants will take on Cozad and Broken Bow in a triangular on October 5th at 5 and 7 pm. They then hit the road for a match against, Arcadia-Loup City on October 7th at 5/6pm and will begin the LouPlatte Conference Tournament on October 11th.

“We appreciate all of the support the community and Ord school staff and students continue to provide us. We have an electric crowd and it’s a wonderful time of year for volleyball”. Coach Smith
