Ord- The 6-1 Chanticleers were home for Parents Night to take on the Centura Centurians on a beautiful night in Bussell Park. The entire Ord Football Program got to run out of the tunnel at the beginning of the game and stand for the starting lineups and national anthem. The tunnel run was lead by the junior high, 5th and 6th tackle, 3rd and 4th flag, followed by the varsity football team. The Chanticleers got off to a slower start this week. The first quarter until midway through the quarter Gage Racek broke loose for a 36 Yd run. Shortly after with another stop by the Chanticleer defense and a fumble recovery by Talan Bruha, Gage Racek scored on a 31 Yd touchdown run. The second quarter yielded no points for either team and the Chanticleers lead 14-0. The third quarter was a scoring explosion as the Chants scored 28 points. The scoring started with an 8 Yd run by Dylan Hurlburt. Cade Gieser picked off the Centurians quarterback and returned it 24 Yd’s for a touchdown. Dylan Hurlburt scrambled for a 35 Yd touchdown and Talan Bruha scored on a 2 Yd reception from Dylan Hurburt set up by a 55 Yd reception by Cade Geiser from Dylan Hurlburt. At the end of 3 quarters, the Chantcileers led 42-0. The 4th quarter started with an interception from John Deriso and he the offensive possession with a 20 Yd touchdown run. Coach Wells said, “We got off to a slow start, they did a good job of stopping a couple of our drives early and ran some clock on us. Once we got going, we were difficult to stop. Our defense played well and just didn’t give up anything in the run game making them pretty one dimensional. It was a great night for football and it was fun to see our entire football program of 128 youth, junior high, and varsity kids on the field at the same time. It takes a village to have a great program and we are blessed with that in Ord.”
