Ord- The 8-1 Chanticleers were at home for the first round of the 2021 playoffs Friday night. Centennial took the opening kickoff and was able to get a couple of first downs before the Chanticleer defense forced a turnover. The Chants fed off of that momentum scoring the first 35 points of the game. The scoring started with a field goal by Talan Bruha. This was the first field goal made by the Chanticleers on the season. On the second possession, John DeRiso scored on the first play taking a reverse 64 Yd’s for a touchdown. Gage Racek scored on a 38 Yd touchdown run the next possession to make it 15-0 at the end of the first quarter. At the start of the second quarter Dylan Hurlburt scored on a 31 Yd touchdown run. Cade Geiser scored on the next possession on a 33 Yd touchdown reception from Dylan Hurlburt. John Deriso caught a 20 Yd touchdown pass on the next drive from Dylan Hurlburt. Centennial finally got on the board when they scored on a 20 Yd touchdown reception to make it 35-7. With one second left in the half Talan Bruha made an amazing 26 Yd touchdown catch in the back of the endzone from Dylan Hurlburt. At the end of the first half the score was 42-7. The Chanticleers continued a there momentum into the start of the third quarter scoring on their first three possessions. Dylan Hurlburt scored on a 1 Yd run. Aidan Ryschon scored on a 16 Yd run and Dylan Hurlburt scored on a 12 Yd run to finish the Chanticleer scoring barrage and make the score 62-7. The game ended with the Broncos scoring a couple of touchdown at the end. The final score was 62-21. Coach Wells said, “We got off to a great start and kept the momentum throughout the game. Our defense played great forcing turnovers and limiting them to very few yards. Our offense took advantage of great field position and was really hard to stop. We are playing the best football of the year and were going to do whatever it takes to keep this thing rolling.” The Chanticleers will host Lincoln Lutheran on Friday at 6:00 in the quarterfinal round of the playoffs.
