The Chants opened the conference tournament by hosting Arcadia-Loup City on Monday night. The Chants had just recently dropped a game to the Rebels a week and half before. The Chants did not let this game start the same as the previous one and were able to gain the upper hand on the Rebels and take a 12 point lead into halftime. “We really executed our plan and shot the ball well in the first half.” Coach Gates said after the game. The Chants and Rebels would then trade baskets in the 3rd quarter. The Rebels would cut the lead to five but they would get no closer before the Chants pulled away for the victory. “We had a really good night on the boards and that was big in the win.” Coach Gates said. The Chants had multiple players with over seven rebounds in the game including Blake Hinrichs, Will Grint, John DeRiso, Cade Geiser, and Talon Bruha. Hinrichs led the team with twelve points. Grint and Blake Wells added 11 points for the Chants in the win.

On Tuesday, the Chants traveled to Doniphan to take on the Doniphan Trumbull Cardinals which they had just played on the previous Thursday. The game started off much differently than the previous week. The Chants were able to stick with the one loss Cardinals in the 1st quarter and found themselves down by six after one. In the 2nd quarter, the Chants would make a run at the Cardinals and cut their lead to one at halftime. “We played a really good quarter of basketball in the 2nd.” Coach Gates said. In the third quarter, the Cardinals would be able to extend their lead to 9 before the quarter was over. “We had some really good looks that just didn’t fall early in that quarter if we hit a few of those this game might have been different.” Coach Gates said. The Cardinals then pulled away for the 38-57 victory. Talan Bruha and Will Grint added eight points each for the Chants. Grint also hauled in ten rebounds in the loss. The Chants will take on Broken Bow on Tuesday for Senior night before traveling to O’Neill on Friday.
