On Monday Night the Chants took on Broken Bow in the 1st round of C1-10 Sub-Districts at St. Paul. The game started off like many of the Chant’s games this season with the teams battling back and forth. The Chants were able to grab an 11-9 lead after the 1st. Then similar to the last regular-season game the Chants were able to stretch their lead in the 2nd quarter. “We had a really good end to the 2nd quarter and that was able to carry us into the 2nd half.” Coach Gates said after the game. The Chants were able to extend their 7 point halftime lead to as much as 20 in the 3rd quarter. “Our defense tonight was able to lead into our offense and that allowed us to get that lead.” Coach Gates said. In the 4th quarter, the Chants would withstand a Broken Bow come back and win the game 48-44. The Chants were led by Blake Hinrichs with 14 points. Johnny DeRiso added 12 points and nine rebounds for the Chants. Will Grint had 11 points and Talan Bruha added 8 points in the Chant victory.

On Tuesday night the Chants took on top seed Central City in the 2nd round of the C1-10 Sub-District. The game opened up well for the Chants finding themselves down two after 1st quarter. “We had a great start and we just didn’t convert some looks that we make a lot and if we make those the game would have been different for us.” Coach Gates said In the 2nd quarter, the Bison were able to convert a 15-0 run into a halftime lead of 17. The 3rd quarter would open with another run by the Bison which the Chants would counter with a late run of their own but it ended up being too little too late for the Chants and the Bison would be able to take a 71-43 victory. The Chants were led by Talan Bruha with 11 points and Johnny DeRiso with 9 points.  It was the last game in a Chant jersey for Johnny DeRiso, Cade Geiser Carter Griffith, Will Grint, Calen Pollard, and Blake Wells. “I appreciate the effort of our seniors today and throughout the season. I applaud their willingness to work hard and improve throughout their career.”  Coach Gates said after the game.
