The high school track and field teams hosted their own invitational on Thursday, May 5 and posted some impressive marks on the day.  In all the Chanticleer track teams posted a total of 32 personal best performances on the day and claimed the team title in the girls’ team race and a third place finish in the boys team race.  “Our kids had a very good day again this week”, Coach Derry Trampe commented.  “We seem to be getting better every week with several of our athletes turning their best performances ever.  This is exactly what we want from our kids as we head into the district meet this week.  I am proud of our kids and what they have been able to accomplish so far this year.”

The girls scored 121 points to take the team title by 19 points over Arcadia-Loup City (102).  St. Paul finished in third with 81.5 points.  Rounding out the team scoring were Doniphan-Trumbull (72), Central City (62), Grand Island Central Catholic (61.5), Burwell (54), and Boone Central (0).  The Chanticleer boys scored 96.5 points to finish in third place behind Grand Island Central Catholic (110) and Burwell (105).  St. Paul was right behind the Chants in fourth place with a total of 95.5 points.  Rounding out the team scoring were: Arcadia-Loup City (49), Doniphan-Trumbull (40), Central City (18), and Boone Central (11).

Gold medal winners for the girls were Birtta Deden in the 100 HH (16.93/16.83) and the 300 LH (50.37), Lexi Vancura in the triple jump (34’ 2”), and the 8 X 100 weight person relay team of Marin Reilly, Will Grint, Juls Gonzales, Sam Boettcher, Bailey Setlik, Cainan Rogers, Allie Moudry, and Jacob Stam (1:49.81).  Second place medals went to Britta Deden in the 200 (27.58/28.47), Marin Reilly in the shot put (36’ 6.25” PB), Lexi Vancura in the long jump (16’ 0.5”), Journi Moran in the triple jump (34’ 1.5”), Kaidence Wilson in the high jump (4’ 8”) and Brookelyn Fox in the pole vault (8’ 0”).  Fourth place medals were won by Kaidence Wilson in the 200 (28.63/28.70), Nikie Nelson in the 400 (64.66 PB), Macy Warner in the 3200 (13:51.14) Jocelyn Hinrichs in the 100 HH (18.02/17.75 PB) and 300 LH (54.02), Lexi Vancura in the high jump (4’ 8”), and the 4 X 400 relay team of Nikie Nelson, Macy Warner, Shaylee Thomsen, and Marin Reilly (4:36.17). Journi Moran earned a fifth place finish in the long jump with a leap of 15’ 6”.  Sixth place awards went to Allie Moudry in the discus (104’ 3” PB) and Jocelyn Hinrichs in the triple jump with a jump of 31’ 6”.

The boys had two gold medal winners on the day as Calen Pollard won the 3200 in a personal best time of 10:41.72 and the 4 X 800 relay team of Calen Pollard, Owen Lane, Jace Geiser, and John DeRiso won with a season best time of 8:33.51.  Second place medals went to Hayden Kluthe in the 110 HH (16.26/16.09), Will Grint in the shot put (48’ 2.25”), the 4 X 100 relay team of Owen Lane, John DeRiso, Dylan Hurlburt, and Gage Racek (46.63), and the 4 X 400 relay team of John DeRiso, Jace Geiser, Calen Pollard, and Owen Lane (3:36.36 SB).  Third place awards went to John DeRiso in the 400 (51.68 PB), Owen Lane in the 800 (2:10.94 PB), Elijah Pollard in the 1600 (5:05.21 PB), and Sam Boettcher in the discus (133’ 7”).  Fourth place medals were won by Garret Severance in the 1600 (5:08.01 PB), Blake Hinrichs in the triple jump (39’ 1.5”), and Blake Wells in the pole vault (12’ 6”). Earning fifth place awards were Garret Severance in the 800 (2:12.48), Hayden Kluthe in the 300 IH (46.12), Sam Boettcher in the shot put (44’ 9.5”), and Gage Kolar in the pole vault (10’ 0”).  Brodie Klimek added a sixth place finish in the 3200 in a personal best time of 11:59.26.
