The Chanticleer Volleyball team is currently 11-9 and climbing. After a difficult start to the season, the Chants have made an impressive run going 10-2 over the last 12 matches.

“I’m really excited about this group, they work hard and are smart volleyball players. They have grown a lot in the off season and it’s showing in their maturity on the court” states Coach Smith.

Chanticleer offense is led by junior setter Brooke Fox and defense is led by senior libero, Ali Miller. Currently, the Chanticleers are led in kills by senior middle blocker Kaidence Wilson and junior outside hitter Marin Reilly. “We have been battling for every match and showing loyalty to our teammates” states Coach Smith, “it has been fun to watch their growth over the last few weeks”.

The Chanticleers placed 2nd at the Wahoo Invite and 3rd at the Ord Invite. Other senior leaders are outside hitter Britta Deden and right side hitter, Lexi Vancura. Defensively, the Chants have many contributors, seniors, Ali Miller, Kaidence Wilson, Lexi Vancura, Britta Deden, juniors Maggie Fischer, Kaci Bruha, Bailey Setlik, Brooke Fox and Marin Reilly and freshmen, Jamie Vavra. “This team is truly that, a team. We have had people step up when we need them and really understand their roles and contribution to Ord Volleyball. Our team code starts with “I am a Chant” which really allows us to focus on what it means to be a Chant volleyball player, belong to something larger than ourselves and to come together as a team.” states Coach Smith.

The Chanticleer Junior Varsity and Reserve teams have been working hard to learn new positions, new skills and continue to make strides throughout the season. They were able to secure a 3rd place finish in St. Paul earlier this year. “I truly enjoy seeing our entire program grow and learn. As coaches, we are grateful to be a part of these athlete’s lives and continue to strive to be a top volleyball program in the state. The underclassmen are a huge part of that and continue to work hard to display their skill” states Coach Smith. The Chanticleers are back in action on 9/27/22 at Boone Central and 9/29/22 at Kearney Catholic. Both matches will be played Reserve/JV/Varsity and begin at 5:30pm and 5:00pm respectively. Most matches are live streamed but these athletes have worked hard and love to see you cheering in the stands. Check the Ord High School App or Website for more information on all activities.
