Chants Drop Finale

On Saturday afternoon the Chants closed their regular season with a game with the Ravenna Bluejays. It was Senior night/afternoon for the Chants with Hayde Grint, Solomon Campise Stetson Bredthauer, Jaden Riley, and Dj Schatz appearing in their final game at home. The Chants started the afternoon by getting a three point lead after the first quarter and stretching it to five before half. Ravenna would open the 2nd half hot from 3 and connect on 3 of their first four to erase the Chant lead and take a eight point lead of their own. “We had a lull offensively there and that hurt us.” Coach Gates said. The Chants would tie the game but a buzzer beater from half court would give Ravenna a three point lead at the end of the 3rd. In the fourth quarter the game would stay tight with both teams often trading buckets. Late free throws from Ravenna would keep stretching the lead but the Chants would respond each time till the end when a Hayden Grint half court shot that would have tied the game bounced off the rim. The Chants fell 44-41. “We didn’t play with the focus and intensity we needed to today and they took advantage of it. Coach Gates said. Gates added “This loss should take nothing away from what our seniors have accomplished and how they have worked to get better.”. “We gave ourselves a chance to win every game and I think we can carry that momentum into sub-district play.” The Chants were led by Hayden Grint who had 22 points and 9 rebounds. The Chants finished the regular season 11-11 and will play Broken Bow in the first round of Sub Districts.
