Important Playoff Game Information: The Four Corner’s Health Department is the health department that oversees David City. They informed their regional area this morning that due to community clusters of high COVID numbers in the area, they have moved to the line exactly between orange and red on the COVID Risk Dial. While the football game is outdoors, they anticipate both schools being well supported by their fans, which may limit the ability to socially distance. Masks are required and need to be worn to protect fans, athletes, and students. It was well stated by the David City Aquinas AD when he said, "One of us will be playing next week. We just want to make sure that it happens."
The only thing we want to bring home with us is a CHANT WIN!! Stay safe Chant Nation--each and everyday we are in school is a WIN for our Students!
For fans wishing to watch at home, the game can be streamed here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUh8ruLvCZQw4Orf_ApIzSQ
Ord Public School Families of K-12 Students:
The Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) would like to know about internet service in student homes across the state. NDE is asking districts to collect Digital Equity Data during the fall to share information with the Nebraska Department of Education, the State School Board, and the Governor's Office as they work to support schools and students. NDE will conduct an initial review of submitted data from all districts across the state and will use the information to help prioritize $3.2M GEER funding resources for Home Internet support. NDE is asking that families fill out 1 SURVEY per student for all students K-12 who live in the home. Survey information turned in by the deadline of November 15, 2020 will help our district request funding for technology support funds.
All OPS Families should receive an email and link to the survey. The email will come from asnyder@ordps.org. If you do not receive the email by the end of the week, please contact the OHS Office at 728-5013 to update your email address. Thank you in advance for helping us share with NDE the technology needs of our families.
As part of our Return to School Plan, regular updates will occur to keep our community informed of where we are at with planning. This week the Loup Basin has reported staying in the Orange Risk Dial Zone. We are currently in the Yellow Operational Zone in our local school community. We are in the Yellow Operational Zone due to having no staff positive cases and a single student positive case. We are able to remain in the Yellow Operational Zone by having low quarantine numbers associated with any positive cases we have had due to masks being used in both buildings and at all home events. To date, we have had NO instances of traceable spread in either building. Simply put, the measures that we are putting in place to keep students and staff healthy are working. Temperature checks, mask use, social distancing, regular hand sanitization, increased cleaning, and making modifications to our day to decrease student density during meal and recess times have helped us with our goal of All Students, All Day, Every Day!
Aligning with open and transparent communication, we currently have one student positive case at OES, no student positive cases at OHS, and no staff positive cases at either building. Due to masks being used at school, there were no students or staff identified to quarantine due to the one positive student case. Family members and close contact individuals have been directed to quarantine per the Loup Basin guidelines.
We do have several students and one staff member that are quarantining due to close contact with a positive person. In all cases, the positive contact was a family member and contact occurred outside of school. We are concerned about the rising cases in our community, but have been very pleased in our efforts to keep the impact of this on our schools minimal. We are planning on full in-person learning everyday and we have not changed our plans on this. We encourage anyone with questions to contact the District Office, OHS, or OES and ask to speak with an administrator. We will continue to monitor the health of our local community and work with Loup Basin Health Department to communicate our Operational Zones. The Return To School Plan can be found at the Ord Public Schools website www.ordps.org.
