Bus Route Families: Letters were sent to the email address on file that include the Route Times and Bus Rider Expectations for the 2020-21 school year. Letters were also mailed via USPS to families. If your student rides an AM/PM Bus Route AND you returned the rider form earlier this summer, you should have received an email. If you did not receive an email and feel that you should have, please check your SPAM file first and then call the District Office at 308-728-5013 ext 6 to ensure your email information is up to date. If you did not return the form, your student was not included on the route schedule. As a reminder, there is no courtesy shuttle between the two buildings this year.

As communicated earlier this month, the Ord Public Schools Return to School plan can now be found at www.ordps.org. It is important to realize that although a great deal of time and thought went into this plan, we will need to remain flexible to react to the health status of our community as that will be what dictates the plan. Just as a reference--If today was the first day of school, we would be in the low yellow operational zone but things can change quickly. The plan may need to be tweaked a bit as we move into August and many school districts that have rolled out their plans already are adjusting to changes in their respective communities. Most importantly, we appreciate everyone's flexibility and patience as we plan for the 2020-21 school year. A Frequently Asked Questions and one-page Quick Guide to our plan will be shared next week as we get closer to the school year starting. First day of school is August 18th and we are looking forward to welcoming our students back in our buildings. Stay Healthy Chant Nation so we can see you all soon!

Due to the bus driver shortage and changes to cleaning schedules for busses in response to COVID-19, we are unfortunately unable to offer courtesy transportation between Ord Elementary and Ord High School before and after school for the 2020-21 school year. Students will not be able to ride between buildings before and after school. We realize that this is a service that many of our families have used over the years, but with the increased social distancing that must occur on the busses, assigned seating, and deep cleaning of busses whenever students load and unload, we are unable to offer this service for this school year. We simply do not have the number of drivers to drive the number of busses needed to make this happen. With the limited drivers, the focus will be on maintaining route transportation for Ord Public School students. In order to help students with the crossing of L street, we are looking at options of having a crossing guard to help students. More information on this will be shared closer to the start of school. Once again, we regret that we will not be able to offer the courtesy shuttle between our two buildings for the 2020-21 school year. It was not an easy decision to make but without drivers and the impact of COVID-19, we are unable to sustain our previous transportation operations. Thank you in advance for your understanding and flexibility as we start to finalize school planning during this unprecedented time.

Chant Nation!! We are getting closer to the start of the 2020-21 school year with the first scheduled day of classes August 18th. Ord Public Schools is planning on starting on-time and in full session....meaning all kids, every day, each day. The health of our community is what will dictate these plans so keep doing a great job of staying healthy Ord! Throughout the school closure in the spring, planning over the summer, and in regards to the upcoming school year, we have worked on making decisions in a two-week window for planning purposes. We have found that planning for longer range scenarios than this has been difficult with the ever-changing landscape during the pandemic and thus leads to confusion when trying to determine what restrictions, guidelines, or recommendations will guide schools re-opening. Things are still changing on a quick timeline. Plans for the 2020-21 school year in regards to expectations, restrictions, and health guidance will be shared by the end of July. In the meantime, we are working hard on making plans and adjustments so we can welcome our students and staff back in August. A parent survey will be coming out this week and sent to the parent email that is on file with the district. Orientation sessions will be scheduled for Kindergarten and 7th Grade. The community support has been greatly appreciated throughout this entire process. We appreciate all that you continue to do to support your students and your community. Go Chants--and we will see you all soon!
